The Sforza Castle was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, the Duke of Milan, and was the residence of the lords of the city for four centuries. It was one of the biggest citadels in Europe and it is sited along the Sempione Park's margin, the largest park in the city. Following an extensive restoration work carried out at the beginning of the twentieth century, it now houses several of the city's museums and art collections.
