Animal Transport on İDO Ferries

You can travel with your pet on IDO ferries, but you must comply with the IDO Pet transport rules detailed below.
IDO RULES REGARDING THE TRANSPORTATION OF ANIMALS
  1. As of March 1, 2012, our guests must have their pet's vaccination certificates with them so that they can be shown to the boarding terminal staff on foot trips, during the security check for vehicle trips and at any time during the trip.
  2. Cats, dogs with vaccination certificates , and budgies, canaries, etc. in special cages. Pets such as songbirds can be carried in a cage next to the pet owner in the passenger lounges of all sea buses, car ferries and fast ferries, except that pets such as songbirds are carried in the passenger vehicle on fast ferries and car ferries with open garages.
  3. The maximum pet cage dimensions to be carried inside the hall are 23x40x55 cm . The pet in the cage is placed in a suitable place next to its owner (on his lap, on the floor near his seat, etc.) in a way that will not disturb other guests or block corridor passages.
  4. Pets whose cage dimensions are larger than 23x40x55 cm and which we cannot take into the passenger lounge are carried in their special cages outside the passenger lounges on sea buses and in places indicated by ship officers, in ferry cages outside the passenger lounge on ferries, and in the passenger vehicle on fast ferries and car ferries with open garages.
  5. Pets should not be taken out of the cage during the voyage, or from the passenger vehicle on fast ferries and car ferries with open garages. When pets are removed from the cage or vehicle, ship officers have the right to warn pet owners and warn them to put the pets back into the cage or vehicle.
  6. In accordance with Article 14 of the " Animal Protection Law " No. 5199, breeding dangerous animals such as Pitbull Terrier and Japanese Tosa; Ownership, entry into our country, sale and advertising, exchange, display and gifting are prohibited. Based on the relevant article, pets of this breed (Pitbull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro) are not transported.
  7. Compliance of the pet requested to be transported with this legislation is checked at the terminal.
  8. Dogs that are too large to fit in a cage can be accepted on fast ferry services provided that they wear a muzzle, but they cannot travel inside the lounge. They will be allowed to travel wherever the ship lounge managers deem appropriate.
  9. Domestic and international sea bus services (vessels carrying only pedestrian passengers) are not accepted.
  10. Dogs and animals that are too large to fit in a cage must pass to the fast ferries from outside the terminal (vehicle counter - passenger exit) provided that they wear a muzzle.
  11. The officers carrying out the inspection may refuse to transport pets whose health condition is suspected or whose health condition is thought to hinder a healthy journey.
  12. İDO does not accept any responsibility for the deterioration of the health condition of the transported animal before, during or after the voyage. Acceptance of animal transportation depends on our guest assuming full responsibility. The carrier will not be responsible for the death, illness, loss or injury of the animal during transportation, or any expenses or other damages that may arise due to this.
IDO RULES REGARDING GUIDE DOGS
Trained guide dogs accompanying our visually impaired guests will be able to travel in the passenger lounges of all our sea buses, car ferries and ferries.
Documents that must be kept during transit;
  • Guide Dogs Association identification document
  • Dog's vaccination record
  • Body collar indicating that it is a guide dog
  • Hospital report of our visually impaired guest when necessary

We also state that the guide dog must travel with a body collar and muzzle during the expedition.
