About Paris
When to Go
There is no “right” time to travel to Paris – the warmer months mean picnics and parks, but they also mean crowds. In the colder months, the sky is grey, but there are fewer tourists. There are events throughout the year, too, from outdoor summer concerts to festive music in the winter.
Transport in Paris
The ever-expanding metro and RER train system takes Parisians wherever they want. It's cheap and efficient, with a single ticket starting at $2 and a day pass at $14. Taxis and buses also offer convenient transportation, but local residents use Vélib bikes if their destination is not far.
Weather in Paris
While January is the coolest month with an average temperature of 5°C, July is the hottest month with an average temperature of 20°C.
Things to Know Before You Go
Paris is a diverse and changing city. So leave the Hollywood clichés at home. Try to speak a little French and dress a little better than you're used to. But ultimately, relax, Parisians wear sneakers too.
