The city has the highest population density in East Africa. After its establishment as a railway camp, the city developed and became the most important center of the country. It is among the most prominent cities in Africa in the financial and political sphere and hosts many organizations in different fields. In the local language, the city means green and wetland. International commissions use the phrase "a popular social center" when describing the city. Nairobi National Park is among the places to visit and there is no similar formation anywhere in the world.
