Sheremetyevo International Airport (IATA: SVO) is an international airport located in Khimki, Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 29 km northwest of Moscow centre. The airport, which is the hub for passenger operations of Russia's international airline Aeroflot, is also one of Moscow's three airports, along with Domodedovo International Airport and Vnukovo International Airport. The airport is the busiest airport in the Russian Federation, with 31,612,402 passengers and 256,104 aircraft movements recorded in 2015.

Land Transportation

Railway

The subsidiary of Russian Railways operates the Aeroexpress line, which carries passengers non-stop between Moscow city center and the airport's Belorussky station. One-way trip costs 470 rubles (420 rubles for online and app purchases) (as of February 2016) and takes 35 minutes. Trains have adjustable seats, luggage space, sinks and electrical outlets. First class carriages are also available.

Bus

Moscow can be reached by municipal Mosgortrans bus lines: 817 Moscow Metro Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya line (#7) to Planernaya station, 851 Zamoskvoretskaya line (#2) to Rechnoy Vokzal station. The fare is 50 rubles (about $0.77 as of September 2016), departures are every 10 minutes, and transportation time is 33-55 minutes depending on the terminal served. Night time bus N1 (Russian: H1) (departs every 30 minutes between 03.00 and 05.40) provides transportation between Moscow's Leningradsky Avenue, the city center and Leninsky Avenue and the airport. Journey time 30-90 minutes, fare 50 rubles (as of September 2016).

Shuttle buses provide transportation between the northern cluster (Terminals B and C) and the southern cluster (Terminals D, E and F).

Path

The main road to the airport - Leningradskoye Highway - is experiencing major traffic jams. The toll road to the airport was opened on December 23, 2014. It connects to MKAD near Dmitrovskoe Highway. Now it is possible to reach the airport in 10 minutes without getting stuck in traffic.

Official taxis are available from the desks in the arrivals area. Travel costs to the city are subject to a fixed fee depending on the region. Flat-rate rides can be made anywhere in Moscow using Uber, Gett, Yandex.Taxi and local E-hailing applications. Domodedovo International Airport (IATA: DME) is an international airport located in the Domodedovo region of Moscow Oblast, Russia, 42 kilometers south-southeast of Moscow centre. Domodedovo is one of Moscow's three airports, along with Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo. It is also one of the largest airports in Russia and the USSR in terms of passenger and cargo traffic. Serving 30,504,515 passengers in 2015, a decrease of 7.7 percent compared to 2014, the airport is the second busiest airport in Russia.

Domodedovo is Moscow's only privately owned airport and is believed to be owned by businessman Dmitry Kamenshchik.

Land Transportation

Railway

The railway station at the airport provides transportation to Paveletsky Railway Terminal in the center of Moscow. Rail transportation, completed in 2002, is carried out by non-stop Aeroexpress trains (it takes 45 minutes, the normal wagon costs 470 rubles, the first class wagon costs 1000 rubles).

The suburban train of Moscow Railways from the direction of Paveletsky district takes 65 - 70 minutes and costs 99 rubles, but it does not run regularly during the daytime.

Bus

Transportation to Moscow is by bus 308 (plenty of luggage space) and commercial marshurutka minibuses (more frequent departures): Moscow Metro Zamoskvoretskaya Line (#2) to Domodedovskaya. Its fare is 150 rubles (equal to 2 dollars), journey time is about 45 minutes.

Local buses 11, 26, 30 provide transportation to the nearest town and connect to the station of the Moscow Railway in the direction of Paveletsky district, located in the municipality of Domodedovo.

Bus 999 is to the south-east and provides transportation from the airport to Bronnitsy, Kolomna and Ryazan.

Path

There are several long and short term parking areas at the airport. The terminal is accessed via a 14-mile, four-lane toll-free road from the Moscow Ring Road junction and Kashirskoye Highway. There are licensed taxis, limousines and car rental companies (Hertz, Avis and Sixt) in the arrival hall. Flat-rate rides can be made anywhere in Moscow with Yandex.Taxi and local E-hailing applications.
