About Dusseldorf

Dusseldorf , the capital of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia within the borders of Germany, was founded on the banks of the Rhine. The name of the city comes from the Düssel stream. The Ruhr region is located in the northern part of the city and Cologne is located in the southern part. This city, which is considered a fashion and fair center, contributes greatly to the country's economy by hosting various sectors. In this way, the city hosts many tourists and investors. Altstadt District, located in the city center, is famous for its taverns and beer halls. Düsseldorf International Airport, one of the largest airports in the state, is also located in this city. The city has managed to make its name known to the world with the clubs it opened in many sports branches. Düsseldorf Airport (IATA: DUS) is the international airport of Düsseldorf, the capital of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located approximately 7 kilometers north of Düsseldorf city center and 20 kilometers southwest of Germany's largest metropolitan area, Essen, Rhine-Ruhr.

Düsseldorf is Germany's largest airport after Frankfurt and Munich and hosted 22.4 million passengers in 2015. It is the hub for Air Berlin and Eurowings, and the only place from which Lufthansa operates long-haul flights (to Newark) from outside its Frankfurt and Munich hubs. The airport has three passenger terminals, two runways and is capable of handling wide-body aircraft such as the Airbus A380.


Land Transportation


Train

It is possible to reach Düsseldorf Airport from two railway stations. The first is the suburban railway line and the other is regional long-distance trains. The airport railway station is located 2.5 kilometers from the terminal and all types of German railways use it, including ICE high-speed trains. The airport also has its own S-Bahn station, Düsseldorf Airport Station is located below the terminal. The S11 line passes here and its last stop is here.

The fully automatic SkyTrain monorail connects remote stations to parking areas and passenger terminals and is also used as an inter-terminal connection.


Path

The airport can be reached via its own motorway, which is part of the motorway A44 (Belgium–Kassel, Exit Düsseldorf-Flughafen ), which connects to the A52, A57 and A3 motorways. There are also taxis and several car rental agencies. Additionally, several local bus lines connect the airport with nearby areas and Düsseldorf city centre.
