About Nigde

Niğde, which ranks first in apple production, is among the areas included in the Cappadocia region. This city, which provides employment with its leather and carpet factories and has an important place in potato production, is also famous for its artifacts from the ancient period.

Niğde, famous for its fruit growing and orchards, has always been a city that lives off agriculture. Besides agriculture, industry also started to be effective. The famous Niğde Gazoz is also produced in this factory.

The Ethnography Museum, where pre-Turkish and Ottoman period artifacts can be examined, has important cultural values in terms of tourism with its churches and ruins, monasteries, and Roman period ruins.

Niğde has a cuisine famous for its pancakes, kayaya, mangır soup, ashure and fig dessert. Fruits, vegetables and dairy products are the most important fixtures of the kitchen. Potatoes are very important economically as they meet 25 percent of the country's needs.

Niğde, which is within the borders of Cappadocia, does not attract much attention due to the lack of touristic promotion.
