The city became one of the most important culture and art centers of the Kingdom of Commagene. The most important structure in the city is a monumental rock tomb 20 meters long and 6 meters wide. This tomb belongs to Mithridates I, King of Commagene.

Perre Ancient City is one of the five largest cities of the Kingdom of Commagene, located in Adıyaman province of Turkey. Perre was founded in the 3rd century BC. The city became an important trade and cultural center of the Kingdom of Commagene.

During the excavations carried out in the Ancient City of Perre, many historical structures such as theatres, baths, temples, aqueducts and tombs were unearthed. The most important structure in the city is a rock tomb consisting of two parts. This tomb was built in the 3rd century AD.
