So much so that there are only 30 White Lions left in the world, 2 young males, 2 young females and a cub male.
Aslan Park, which is an Ex-situ Conservation Center, is a warm home with shelters similar to natural living conditions, where predatory cats under threat of extinction can come to life and reproduce for the continuity of their generation.
Aslan Park, which has a pair of Anatolian Lynx and a female Caracal, which are endemic species of Anatolia, is the first and only predatory cat park in Turkey and the surrounding geography. Aslan Park Animal Management Team, which employs expert veterinarians, technicians and caretakers, acts according to the principle of working 24/7 for the health and peace of living creatures.
Aslan Park, which plays the role of a living laboratory on predatory cats, aims to develop environmental protection awareness, especially in children, and sheds light on endemic species that are decreasing in nature and their unknown aspects.
Our Predatory Cats
Lion / Panthera leo:
They live south of the Sahara Desert in Africa. It is the second largest cat in the world after the tiger. Mane is found only in male individuals. They live in groups. They usually hunt at night. They spend at least 18 hours of the day sleeping. They live an average of 17 years. They can reach a weight of 250 kilos and a height of 2.7m. They are carnivorous.
White Lion / Panthera leo:
White Lions were first discovered in the 1970s. They are not albinos, they are considered a completely separate species. Their white color is caused by a recessive gene. White lions are living legendary animals. It is a rare variant of the Brown African Lion. Although their color is not as white as albino lions, the tips of their manes and tails are yellowish.
While Albino lions are frequently seen in various parts of the world, it is estimated that there are only 30 White Lions left. 5 White Lions brought from the Czech Republic in 2019 are under protection in the Lion Park. The expert team of 8 people is also interested in the care of the White Lions, and they make great efforts to obtain offspring from them and ensure the continuation of their generation.
Adult male White Lions have a long mane. Its head-to-body length is 1.70 to 2.50 meters, shoulder height is about 1.20 meters, and tail length is about one meter. The average body weight of an adult male is 225 kilograms. Females have a head-body length of 1.40 to 1.75 meters, shoulder height of one meter, tail length of 85 centimeters and body weight of about 150 kilograms.
Siberian Tiger / Panthera tigris altaica:
It lives in Russia and Asia Region. The Siberian Tiger is the largest and most predatory cat species in the world. Siberian Tigers are among the species in danger of extinction due to the use of their bones and some organs in traditional Chinese medicine, habitat destruction and hunting. Because they hunt at night, their night vision is very strong and they hunt alone. They live an average of 10 years. They can reach a weight of 350 kilos and a height of 3.5m. They are carnivorous.
Bengal Tiger / Panthera tigris tigris:
It is estimated that there are around 4500 Bengal Tigers in the world today. The majority of Bengal Tigers live in India. Today, more than 60% of the tiger population living in the wild consists of Bengal Tigers.
They live an average of 14 years. They can reach a weight of 250 kilos and a height of 2.5m. They are carnivorous.
Anatolian Lynx / Lynx lynx dinniki:
It is one of the endemic species of Anatolia. Because they produce low-frequency sounds, they may not be noticed in their area for years. The tassels on their ears enhance their hearing, and their sharp eyes help them find prey. They are carnivorous. Although they generally feed on hoofed creatures, they can also feed on small mammals. They live an average of 24 years. They can reach a weight of 18-32 kilos and a height of 1.1m.
Caracal / Caracal caracal:
It lives in Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa. While its number is decreasing in Asia and North Africa and it is considered an endangered species, it is not considered endangered in Central and Southern Africa. It is thought to live in the Southern Taurus Mountains, Konya Basin and Southeastern Anatolia in Turkey. They are masters at hiding themselves, a caracal can lie flat against the ground and remain motionless, and the color of their feathers can provide them with very good camouflage.
They live an average of 20 years. They can reach a weight of 12-18 kilos and a height of 75-90cm.
Puma / Puma concolor:
Puma, known as Mountain Lion because they live in flocks like lions, lives in North and South America. Puma, which can adapt to its environment, is found in every major habitat on the American continent. Their numbers have decreased in the regions where they were historically found as a result of overhunting and human settlements in their natural habitats.
The puma, which is the second largest cat in the Americas after the jaguar, is the fourth largest cat in the world after the tiger, lion and jaguar. However, since Puma cannot roar, it does not belong to the 4 big cat families (Lion, Tiger, Leopard and Jaguar).
They live an average of 12 years. They can reach a weight of 100 kilos and a height of 1.80m.
Jaguar / Panthera onca:
The name jaguar is derived from the Native American word 'yaguar', meaning 'one who kills with one leap'. It is the third largest cat in the world and the largest cat in America, after the Lion and the Tiger.
Jaguars are superior hunters. They have no natural predators except humans who hunt them for their fur or for fun. Their coats are normally yellow and tan, but can range from reddish brown to black. Black Jaguars, also known as 'Black Panthers', emerge due to a genetic change. Only 6% of jaguars are black. They live an average of 20 years. They can reach a weight of 160 kilos and a height of 1.95m.
Leopard / Panthera pardus saxicolor:
In recent years, young male leopards have been seen in the eastern regions of Turkey. They live in Türkiye, Iran and the surrounding geography.
Leopards are one of the cat species that prefer to live alone. So much so that males and females do not come together except during the breeding season. Females give birth to their babies alone and take care of them for only 2 years. Afterwards, they expel their young from the area.
Leopards, which are in danger of extinction, have many subspecies depending on their geography. The predatory cat, known as the 'Anatolian Leopard' and endemic to our country, is also a subspecies of the Leopard.
They live an average of 17 years. They can reach a weight of 70 kilos and a height of 1.9m.

Otter / Lutra lutra:
They live along wooded water margins in Eurasia and North Africa.
It lives in holes dug near water. Although its nest is on land, its entrance is underwater. He lines the inside with dry leaves and moss. It also leaves a ventilation hole. It has a long cylindrical body, flat head, long mustache and small ears. Their feet are short, five-toed and partially webbed. Most of them are dark brown in color. Their densely hairy, water-repellent hides are valuable in furrier industry. It swims expertly in water. Although there are many varieties of otters, the differences between them are very small. In some countries, it is tamed by fishermen and used in fishing. It mostly wanders alone and hunts at night. He loves to play and swim on his back in the water.
They live an average of 12 years. They can reach a weight of 8-15 kilos and a height of 80cm. They are carnivorous.
Nile Crocodile / Crocodylus niloticus:
It lives in the Nile River. The Nile Crocodile is one of the 3 large crocodile species.
The first crocodile was seen 240 years ago, when dinosaurs roamed our planet. Crocodiles are cold-blooded creatures that depend on the sun for heat. Their eyes, nostrils, and ears are located at the top of their faces. This makes it easier for them to see, smell and hear when diving underwater.
They live an average of 70 years. They can reach a weight of 225-500 kilos and a height of 2.4-4m. They are carnivorous.
African Spurred Tortoise / Centrochelys sulcata:
He lives in Africa. Turtles have existed on earth for 220 million years. These species live in extremely hot climates and dig 10-foot holes that are safe and cool to escape the heat of the day. Turtles can often survive without water or food for weeks. When they find a water source, they can drink up to 15% of their body weight.
They live an average of 70 years. They can reach a weight of 60 - 100 kilos and a length of 80cm. They are herbivorous.
Budgie / Melopsittacus undulatus:
They live in Australia.
This species, which feeds mainly on seeds in its natural habitat, has survived for five million years in the harsh conditions of Australia's arid regions. Like many birds, budgies have tetrachromatic color vision. Male Budgies are one of the most well-known parrot species with their talking features. Female budgies also have the ability to talk, but male birds are a little more prone.
They live an average of 15 years. They can reach a weight of 30-40 grams and a length of 18cm.
Cockatiel / Nymphicus hollandicus:
They live in Australia.
Cockatiels are social birds that live in flocks of hundreds of birds. Males use their voices to impress females. Males of this species, which are very protective of their families, have been seen to challenge predators or larger birds in nature to protect their females and offspring.
They live an average of 12-18 years. They can reach a weight of 80-100 grams and a length of 30cm.
Sand Tiger Shark / Carcharias taurus:
Sand tiger shark, one of the most interesting members of the Viasea Aquarium family, has sharp teeth that are visible even when their mouths are closed. This species, which lives in warm waters in all oceans of the world except the Eastern Pacific, can often be seen on the sand surface in areas close to the coast. This is where the name sand tiger shark comes from.
The sand tiger shark is known to be the only shark species that comes to the surface and swallows air. By doing this, it stores air in its body and thus can remain motionless underwater without sinking.
The sand tiger shark has a sharply pointed head and a bulky body. Despite this, he is an extremely good swimmer. It is a very skillful hunter and is mostly active at night in terms of hunting. It mostly feeds on small fish, but it also hunts creatures such as crustaceans and cuttlefish.
They live an average of 25 years. They can reach a weight of 160 kilos and a height of 3.5m.
Blacktip Reef Shark / Carcharhinus melanopterus:
They live in tropical coral reefs of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
When it reaches shallow coastal waters, the blackness of its first dorsal fin reveals it. Since they do not enter brackish or freshwater, most Blacktip Reef Sharks are found on reef ledges and sandy flats.
Blacktip reef sharks show strong site fidelity, with extremely small home ranges over several years. They prey on small bony fish, cephalopods and crustaceans, and are also known to feed on sea snakes and seabirds.
They are shy and timid, they are difficult to approach, but the animals they feed on pose a danger to humans. However, there are cases when the legs of people walking in shallow water were accidentally bitten. This shark is considered a commercially important species, hunted solely for its meat, fins, and liver oil. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has assessed it as a near threat.
They live an average of 20-30 years. They can reach a weight of 15 kilos and a length of 2m.
Grouper / Epinephelus marginatus:
Its body is flat and oval from the side. Its head and mouth are large. Its skin is thick and covered with small scales. The 1st dorsal fin is higher and is united with the 2nd dorsal fin. There are greenish and yellow spots and vertical bands on the head, back and sides, which are visible when alive and disappear when dead. The underside is lighter colored. Gill covers are open and spiny. The caudal fin is round.
The grouper is hermaphrodite and has female sex organs when it reaches sexual maturity. After spending a certain period of his life as a female, when he reaches the age of 18, his female sex organs disappear and male sex organs develop instead, and he lives the rest of his life as a man.
Following the rapid decrease in the number of individuals and the species becoming under threat, according to the communiqué published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, all hunting and gathering was prohibited from September 1, 2016 to August 31, 2020, and the species was taken under protection.
They live an average of 50 years. They can reach a weight of 60 kilos and a height of 1.5m.
Lahoz / Epinephelus aeneus:
It is a fish species found in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea. It lives in rocky, stony or gravelly areas at a depth of 20-200 m without going too deep. It is a very predatory, carnivorous fish. It feeds on all kinds of large and small crustaceans, invertebrates and small fish. It breeds between May and June. It is a close relative of the grouper fish.
Lark, a regional fish, also has a regional economic value. Although it is endangered, it was made available for commercial hunting in Turkey in 1996.
They live an average of 50 years. They can reach a weight of 25 kilos and a height of 1.2m.
Piranha:
More than a dozen fish species living in the rivers of South America, small but notable for their predation, are known as Piranha. Piranhas are divided into two classes: carnivores and herbivores. These fish are freshwater fish, they cannot live in salt water (like the sea). Piranhas live in streams in the Amazon basin, which covers a very large area. 4-5 species among them are particularly dangerous.
The most distinctive feature of piranhas is their large and pointed teeth. The razor-like teeth arranged in the lower and upper jaw, connected to strong muscles, clamp tightly together when the mouth is closed. Thus, the Piranha can tear off large pieces from its prey, which is much larger than itself. They live an average of 20 years.
Stingray:
Stingrays are classified as a cartilaginous fish, along with sharks. The most important differences between stingrays and other fish include their flat bodies, very long and thin tails, and large fins that resemble butterfly wings. The eyes of stingrays are located on their flat bodies, and their mouths and gills are located under their bodies. They breathe thanks to specially developed holes behind their eyes. Each stingray has different hunting methods. Some stingrays hide on the seafloor and hunt their prey, small fish and crustaceans.
The long tails of stingrays are used only for defensive purposes. Stingrays have a hard and very sharp spine on their tails. This thorn is poisonous. They do not use this thorn unless they feel threatened. Some stingrays have the ability to produce electricity in addition to their spines.
They live an average of 7-15 years.
