Who is Tutankhamun?
Child King Tutankhamun, who ascended to the throne in Ancient Egypt 3,332 years ago (1332 BC) when he was only nine years old, died unexpectedly after a short reign of about ten years, and his mummified body was found in Egypt, one of the most important excavation centers in the world today. He was placed with all his valuables in a hastily constructed burial chamber in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. The tomb and the valuable items inside, which were found intact in 1922, are the richest and most magnificent treasure unearthed in the Valley of the Kings to date. This development, which is considered the greatest archaeological discovery of the 20th century, has given a completely different perspective to the existing knowledge and interpretations of ancient Egyptian history, culture, handicrafts and mummification techniques, and has made the Child King Tutankhamun, who was previously unknown to ancient Egypt experts, known to everyone in the world. made it a household name. The objects found in the grave, especially the funeral mask decorated with cobalt blue lapis lazuli, turquoise and agate stones on solid gold, have continued to deeply affect women, men, children and people of all nations around the world for 100 years.
What Awaits Me at the Treasures of Tutankhamun, Child King Exhibition?
When it was discovered, the world had never seen anything like it. In late 1922, British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered a royal tomb full of dazzling jewels in Egypt's Valley of the Kings, untouched for 3,300 years.
Tutankhamun, Treasures of the Child King is now at the Istanbul Aquarium Event Center. In the Tutankhamun, Treasures of the Child King exhibition, Tutankhamun's solid gold coffin from his burial chamber, the world-famous death mask made of gold and precious stones, his chariot, his weapons, walking sticks and furniture. There are exact replicas of more than 400 priceless artifacts selected from among daily items.
Throughout the exhibition, video and projection shows based on the diaries of Archaeologist Howard Carter about Ancient Egypt and Tutankhamun will shed light on the mystery of history. In addition to over 400 treasure artifacts, the exhibition also presents the mysterious story of the young pharaoh and a reconstructed visual world of Ancient Egypt.
