The Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art offers the opportunity to admire the works from the second half of the 20th century. It's located in the El Raval neighborhood and has been declared a museum of national interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya.The museum currently occupies several buildings around the Plaza dels Àngels in the Catalan capital: the main building, the documentation center and the Convent of the Angels.It hosts a collection that includes more than 5,000 works, created from the late 50's to the present. The collection was officially created on June 19, 1997, the date of the signing of the MACBA Consortium between the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Barcelona City Council and the Museum of Contemporary Art Foundation, joining previously deposited funds, as well as other collections of works ceded or deposited by other institutions or by private collectors.Don't miss MACBA's permanent exhibition called "MACBA's Collection" which encompasses modern and contemporary art from 1929 until now or find out about the latest temporary exhibitions such as the Jaume Plensa, A DIY Archive or the Christian Marclay's compositions.
